Angela Faye Brown

Owner & Chief Legal Strategist

Angela Faye Brown is an expert attorney and managing partner of Angela Faye Brown & Associates, PLLC in Austin and Houston. As the firm’s lead attorney in family law, Angela is dedicated to helping clients prioritize their children in the difficult business of divorce and child custody.  Angela possesses nearly fifteen years of experience in working with and legally representing youth, and it is her priority to ensure that children and parents get through legal proceedings (and all life-changes) with as little trauma as possible.

Before opening Angela Faye Brown & Associates, PLLC, Angela worked at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) in Austin, where she helped survivors of domestic violence and worked on many other family law cases including custody, divorce, visitation, immigration, and procurement of protective orders.  Angela also spent years working closely with homeless teenagers at Lifeworks in their teen homeless shelters.

These experiences inspired her to further commit to aiding families with children.  She currently works with clients on custody, divorce, visitations, enforcement of custody and child support, protective orders, adoptions, and LGBT family issues.  Angela is dedicated to helping her clients and will support you in doing what is best for you and your family.

Angela is originally from Vicksburg, Mississippi but moved to Texas as soon as she could.  She is from a large family and returns to Mississippi to visit whenever possible.  She is close with her parents and three sisters, as well as her many aunts, uncles and cousins.  Family holidays can be busy and chaotic, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

As an avid Texas football and basketball fan, Angela goes to games as often as she can and regularly stays up late watching college basketball.  She enjoys dancing and karaoke on nights when she isn’t at home with her partner being entertained by their two large dogs – a Bernese Mountain Dog and a delightful mutt.  They also have two cats that keep the dogs quite occupied.

In her time off, Angela enjoys spending time in nature.  She likes to take the dogs to the dog park, going camping, and fishing for crappie in Louisiana with her father.  She is currently enjoying her newfound hobby of gardening.  She has already successfully grown squash, tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries!  Angela also likes to go out for dinner with friends, especially in East Austin.

How Am I So Different?

As Founding Attorney, I was able to build the law firm that I believed needed to exist. Angela Faye Brown & Associates is unique because I decided to risk the business and be honest about who I am.

Long before law school, I cared about how law and policy impacts children. I earned two public policy degrees and a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. During law school, I took up children’s issues as student counsel in the Children’s Rights Clinic.

Under the supervision of such legal luminaries as Jack Sampson (he literally wrote the book on Texas family law), I represented children who’d been removed from their homes in Child Protective Services cases. These children showed me the courage, confusion, and concern found inside every child in trouble.

And now I’m a mom, and this concern for little ones takes on new meaning. It’s personal for me as it is for you. As much as the legal industry rewards the “bulldog attorneys” who turn everything into a drawn out trial, my primary concern is those children.

I’m honest about that because you deserve to know who you’re working with. I fight when it’s time to fight, and I negotiate when it’s time to make a deal. Whatever empowers you to be a better parent, I’ll do it. I just need you to trust me and to take the next step.
